Well weeds arent working

The North Kelp has been slower than in years past. We have pulled some decent buts out of the “weeds” this year but it has been pretty hit or miss. The bulk of the great fish caught the second half of the month have been in the “halibut highway” some deeper water off of Port Graham and a few anchorages closer to the harbor. We caught our first triple digit halibut of 2021!

Kings have been excellent! Oddly, most of the kings have been coming from the south side of Kachemak Bay (most years, kings are thick on the north side of the bay this time of year but 2021 has seen the majority of Kings hooked south of Seldovia.

Rockfish have been steady. The majority of the rocks have been caught on the south side while trolling.

We are starting to get some whales in the bay. Humpbacks and Orca have been seen between the harbor and Point Bede.
